Booknize ("Booknize", "we", "us"), operated by Gowawe, is a platform for reading and listening to summarized book content. This Privacy Policy explains what we collect, why we collect it, who we share it with, and the choices you have. Questions: info@gowawe.com.
1. Information we collect
Information you give us:
- Account: email address, display name, and a password (stored only in hashed form by our authentication provider). If you choose phone sign-in, your phone number.
- Profile: an optional profile photo you upload.
- Content & support: reviews and ratings you write, support messages, and the messages you send to our in-app AI assistant ("Mindora").
Information created as you use Booknize:
- Library activity: favorites, collections, highlights, and notes.
- Reading & listening activity: books you open, listening duration, progress, and similar signals used to personalize recommendations.
- Search queries you enter in the app.
Information collected automatically: device type, app version, IP address, and basic diagnostic data.
We do not collect precise location, your contacts, or health data. This version of Booknize does not process in-app payments.
2. How we use your information
- Operate the core service (sign-in, your library, synchronized audio + text).
- Personalize recommendations (e.g. "Daily Pick" and "For You").
- Generate replies in the AI assistant (your messages are sent to our AI provider for this).
- Respond to support requests.
- Keep the service secure, prevent abuse, and meet legal obligations.
3. Sharing and third parties
We do not sell your personal data. We share data only with providers that run the platform on our behalf, under contract:
- Supabase — hosting, database, and authentication.
- OpenAI — processes your AI-assistant messages to generate responses.
- Google Sign-In / Sign in with Apple — if you use social login, the provider verifies your identity and shares basic profile info (name, email) with us.
- Authorities or others where required by law.
4. Data retention and deletion
We keep your data while your account is active. You can delete your account in the app at Account → Privacy & data → Delete account; a short grace period applies before permanent deletion. On deletion we remove or anonymize your personal data, except where we must keep it to meet a legal obligation. You can also export your data from within the app. See our account deletion page.
5. Your rights
Depending on where you live (including under the EU GDPR and the Saudi PDPL), you may request access to, correction of, deletion of, or a copy of your data, and object to certain processing. Contact info@gowawe.com.
6. Security
We protect data with encryption in transit (HTTPS/TLS), hashed passwords, and access controls. No system is perfectly secure, but we work to safeguard your information.
7. Children
Booknize is not directed to children under 13 (or the minimum age required in your country) and we do not knowingly collect their data.
8. International transfers
Your data may be processed in regions where we or our providers operate (e.g. the EU). We apply appropriate safeguards to such transfers.
9. Changes to this policy
We may update this policy. We will post the new "Last updated" date here and, where appropriate, notify you in the app.
